What is "Niu Wenshui"?
The word sounds like "niu wan shui" in Mandarin which means water buffaloes or cattles play in the water. In the early Hakka agriculture life in Taiwan, the snack was for farmers as they were taking a break after plowing the field. And the water buffaloes and cattles would take a bath in the water, just exposing their head and back to the water surface. The picture was just like the Hakka snack, Mochi in the brown sugar water. So the snack is called "Niu Wenshui".
